This bait is rapidly growing in popularity and its no secret why. The Whopper Plopper has some big fish catching ability.

Buzzbaits have been around for a long time and I don’t think I need to tell you why.
They have proven time and time again that they can catch bass. The spinning propeller allows for some of the most audible sound a bass lure can make.
Booyah buzzbaits are me go to when I want to burn something across the surface for some big strikes.

The Zoom Horny Toad Frog offers a little something different than the rest of the topwater field.

Cotton Cordell’s Pencil Popper is known as the original pencil popper.
It had been almost forgot about for quite a few years. These baits have made a comeback in the last couple years after someone dug them out of their old rusty tackle box.
The unique nose cup and weighted tail section create a straight ruckus on the surface. Splashing back and forth, these baits are great for catching bass of all sizes.

The Jeckall I-Prop lure may not be a true topwater lure to most. It was designed to fish all levels of the water column as this bait does not naturally float.
It does however fish just below the surface very very well. The double prob system looks almost like a torpedo in the water and let me tell you, bass hit this thing hard!
This bait seems to annoy the fish more than anything in my opinion. Whatever the reason it does catch fish.

The Jackall Mikey Junior is a wakebait with some attitude.
It weighs in at 5/8 of an ounce and is just under 4 inches long. Mikey Junior has a a great waking action and serious fish catching ability.
I find that I can catch all sizes of bass on this bait. I regularly catch bass in the 1-5 pound range on this bait.
#10. Best Topwater Bass Lures, Arbogast Jitterbug Clicker
The Jitterbug fishing lure is the definition of tried and true.
Since its inception in the 1930’s many fishing lures have come and gone. The jitterbug is still here today and its still catching fish.
I love fishing the jitterbug everywhere but I especially love fishing it on open water ponds. This is where I have had the most success.

Imagine sitting on the shoreline of your favorite bass fishing spot. A calm cool morning with a little mist coming off the water.
The Lilly pads are prefect and the bait is setting just off the edge of the first pad. You are working that Hula Popper in nice and slow and KABOOM! She crushes it and before you know it the fight is on.
This is what I imagine every time I am out fishing one of these. Chances are you have heard of these baits before and I would even venture to bet you have used them. You are not surprised to see it here on my list I’m sure.

Whether or not your fishing topwater lures or using other basic bass fishing techniques, there is no question that you have to choose the right lure for the conditions. All of the baits I have listed about generally are going to work best from spring to fall while the water is warmer and the frogs are lively.
