Redington Palix River Waders
Are you an adventure junkie who also has a passion for fishing? Well, you have come to the right place. Today I am reviewing one of the most important pieces of gear in my arsenal, the Redington Wader Review – Redington Palix River Waders. For ages I have been carrying the ridiculous looking, hip-high rubber boots….not anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, hip waders have a place. However, the extra weight that I had to carry every time made me think twice before I set out on an Winter Trout Fishing adventure. I have left these boots back home many times just because of the extra space and weight that it adds to my backpack. I missed out on fishing in several places in the past. That is no longer the case as I have found the Redington Palix River Wader that I don’t mind carrying around.
What makes the Redington Palix River Wader so special?
Unlike the good old rubber boots, the Redington Palix River Wader hardly weighs anything. It is lighter than the hip-high boots that I used to carry. Additionally, this wader is made up of 3-layer, waterproof/breathable DWR coated fabric which is not only waterproof but also ensures that you can fold and keep it in your backpack. Pair this with a high density neoprene booties and fleece lined hand warmer pockets, and we have ourselves one hell of a design.
Even though this wader is thin, it does not cut any corners when it comes to its durability. As the knee region is where the maximum wear and tears happen, this wader comes with an extra layer of reinforcement in that area making it highly durable.
As a little bonus, these fishing waders come with a chest pocket. The pocket is secured with a stout YKK zipper.
The material used is neither too thin nor too thick for my liking. Thus, making it the perfect solution for me in the summer as well as the winter.
You might be wondering what sets these waders apart form the rest? The Redington Palix River Wader are true to size. Many waders run big and its hard to estimate sizes when purchasing online.
Another great thing about these waders is the price. Compared to other fishing waders on the market, the Redington Palix River Waders are not to bad on the pocket book.
The downside of the Redington Palix Wader:
There is not much to say in terms of the disadvantages of this wader. I have been using it for a while now and it surprises me with its incredible toughness and weightlessness. The waist strap seems to be the only item on this wader that might endure significant wear and tear. However, Redington stands by their products (see my Best Beginner Fly Rod Combo For 2019) and if you have a manufacture error they usually work with you to replace them.
I will also note that some folks have had issues with the chest pocket not being waterproof. I do think that is important to note it you wanted to stick your phone in there or something important.
Ready For Your Next Adventure?
The Redington Palix River Waders have taken away a lot of the burden of packing hip waders around. For a fly fishing junkie like me, this product is a perfect fit. Since it’s priced so low while providing such incredible features, I would gladly recommend this Wader to anyone who lives an adventurous life like me.
